The club will perpetuate the brothers in arms ideals we learned while serving in the Military.  We will do this by supporting each other, supporting other Veteran organizations, other Veterans and currently serving members and never forgetting those who have fallen in military service.

MEMBERS RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPECTATIONS:

  • Commitment: The club asks its members to be committed. If a member fails to attend to a standard accepted by club members, they may be required to turn in their patch or be subjected to other corrective measures.

  • Loyalty: The club will not tolerate members who hold membership in another club or other motorcycle organization. If a member cannot decide between this club and another, this club will decide for them, and the patch will be reclaimed by the club. Exemptions to this rule are non-riding organizations such as, Regimental associations, the Royal Canadian Legion (The Legion Riders is considered a riding organization and will not be exempted) or other types of service or community organizations.

  • Brotherhood: “He who has bled with me truly is my brother” Act like it. If a member needs assistance in any way the first call should be to the club and all members should do what they can.

  • No gossip or rumours: If a member cannot confront another member, they do not have the integrity the club requires. Personal issues are exactly that, deal with it one on one by whatever means but the other members and Chapter stay out of it and get it done fast. Slander, rumours, gossip, or blading will be dealt with by disciplinary measures.

  • Represent: The member should be proud of the club. The club expects the member to wear their cut whenever they are on their bike, at all motorcycle events and all Veteran events whether they are with the club or alone.

  • Honesty: Don’t lie to, cheat, or steal from the club or the brothers in it.

  • Respect: Respect all club members and their families. Treat their families as if they were your own. Pay homage to the National Flag, National Anthems, Regimental and Unit Colours and Guidons, Last Post, Reveille, and Cenotaphs.

MEMBERSHIP PROCESS

BECOMING A MEMBER OF PATRIOT SONS IS A PROCESS WITH 3 STAGES:

Hang Around:  At this stage, an individual will make themselves known to one or more club members.  We will take this time to get to know each person and have the opportunity for them to meet club members and initially decide if the person looks like they may be someone who we would like to hang around with.  This process has no prescribed time limit.  It may take months.  Individuals will not be allowed at meetings.  They must meet the expectations from the club and act in a responsible and respectable fashion, it is incumbent on the individual to make their intentions known and to prove their own worth to the club. If the individual meets our membership requirements and shows interest and is accepted by the membership, they will be offered a Prospective membership.

Stryker:   A prospective member will be referred to as a “Stryker” and will partake in club activities but have NO voting rights, they will be treated with respect as a veteran and potential brother. Every month the full members will discuss the prospective member’s performance, commitment and fit with the club.  Depending on the prospective member this process will take at least 12 months or more, there is no strict timeline. During this period the prospective member’s sponsor is responsible for mentoring them and may pull their sponsorship at any time.  If sponsorship is pulled and the membership agrees by vote due to being noncompliant the prospective member’s involvement with the club will cease and all patches issued will be returned to the club immediately.

Full Member:  Prospective members must be voted in with 100% acceptance by full members. One ‘no’ vote must be explained, two no votes are final.  If there is a no vote the prospective members prospecting period may be extended or terminated.  Absentee votes will be accepted.  There must be 100% of member votes counted (absentee and attending) and 80% of the membership must be present to call for the vote.  The New Member will receive his patch from his sponsor. This will be done at a meeting with at least 80% of the membership present.  Upon becoming a full member, commitment and dedication to the club must continue. Upon receiving their patch there will be a one year probationary period.
